The verse of the day from the YouVersion Bible app (Bible.com) for today September 11, 2019 says:

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.”Proverbs 18:10 (New King James)

Now, raise your hand if you know “the name of the Lord.”

I bet a lot of people actually do, but don’t use it or even think on it. In the Hebrew text, this verse actually says:

“The name of יהוה (Yahweh) is a strong tower.”

Many of the prophets and famous Scriptural leaders had His name in their Hebrew names (Eli-YAH-hu — Elijah, Yesha-YAH-hu — Isaiah, Yir-me-YAH-hu — Jeremiah, YE-hoshua — Joshua, YO-el — Joel). I’ll save these name meanings for another time, but think on this verse from Joel (YO-el) 2:32 which is echoed in Acts 2 by the Apostle Peter and in Romans 10, by the Apostle Paul.

‘And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the Lord has said, Among the remnant whom the Lord calls.’

Replace “Lord with יהוה (Yahweh) because THAT is what it says in the original text.

Are you calling on the name of the Lord? Is His name your strong tower? Jesus’s name in Hebrew is possibly Yeshua or something quite similar— many more studied men than myself say that Yeshua (Salvation) is a form of Yehoshua (Joshua) which means “Yah is Salvation”. An interesting study for sure.
